SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The most recent statistics released by the International Aluminum Institute (IAI) indicates that the global aluminum output during the month of June this year, excluding China, dropped when compared with the prior month.

As per IAI data, the total aluminum production during June this year totaled 2.056 million mt, down by almost 3.7% when compared with the revised output figure of 2.135 million mt in May.

The average daily aluminum output during the month of June this year was slightly lower month-on-month. The daily output, excluding China, averaged at 68,500 mt per day, lower by 400 mt per day when compared with the average daily output of 68,900 mt per day during May this year. The average daily output in China stood at 91,900 tons, significantly higher when compared with 87,200 tons in May.

Meantime, Nork Hydro estimates that global primary aluminum consumption went higher by almost 15% quarter-on-quarter to 14.8 million mt during Q2 this year. When matched with Q2 2014, the consumption was up by 5%. The global demand during the second quarter of the year, excluding China, jumped higher by 5.8% over Q1 2015.

Founded in 1972, IAI currently represents over 60% of global bauxite, alumina and aluminium production. The Institute works closely with the national and regional aluminium associations. IAI has companies engaged in the production of bauxite, alumina, aluminium, the recycling of aluminium, or fabrication of aluminium or as joint venture partners in such as its members.
